I've been using CDs and 4.5 GB DVDs to record large format camera images, but now I find I need to use larger size DVDs for that purpose.
I had a few Office Depot DVD+R DL DVDs which record at 2.4 X, but I now need to order faster recording ones.
My computer and DVD drive are relatively new having been purchased in the last wo years.
What considerations should I consider in choosing these DVDs
For several years I've been happily burning files to DVDs using k3b. A couple of months ago I began encountering a problem that now has me completely bewildered. Some recently burned DVDs will not mount in Ubuntu, although they seem to mount fine (and pass integrity tests) on several Macs.
I'm running Ubuntu Karmic, and for some reason it wont mount dvd's. I started having problems when I upgraded to Karmic when it was released. I am able to mount cds jsut fine, just no dvds. A friend gave me another drive to try, and no dice. So i have the disc for maple 13 that I need for school, i pop it in, nothing. I put the dvd in my wifes machine and it works just fine.
I was burning a disc with K3b and it was from an ISO; Burn and verify.
Hi,
Not sure if this is the right spot for this....
I've been ripping my DVDs to have my multimedia library on my laptop for when I travel. I used Brasero to take the images as ISOs. I can mount them, but they will not play in the movie player or vlc.
Any thoughts or assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hardware Forum:
My IBM Thinkpad T42p is running Fedora Core 11. I upgraded from a previous version (FC 7, I think) and, initially, the laptop's CD/DVD recognized both CDs (data and audio) and DVDs. After installing other software packages, though, CDs no longer were recognized. DVDs still play -- I can watch movies on VLC, for instance.
