openSUSE 11.3 with KDE 4.4.4 release 2.
I can change the desktop theme and the splash theme, but I can not change the KDM login manager theme.
First, I changed the setting /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager DISPLAYMANAGER_KDM_THEME from suse to nothing in Yast -> /etc/sysconfig editor in order to get rid of the ugly Suse login theme.
That resulted in having the traditional KDM login theme with th
Using Yast2 I have been able to change the login screen from the default SUSE theme to the "circles" theme. I would like to change the welcome message from "Welcome to 'hostname'" to something more inviting, say: "A Warm Welcome to OpenSuse Linux".
Ive recently installed OpenSuse 11.2 and chose to install gnome with KDE4. Having done so i'm using kdm4 as the display mgr defined in /etc/sysconfig/display manager. However kdm4 reveals all the user names which I don't really like. Ive tried others including console. After logging in manually ive typed startx gnome which fails.

nothing seems to work for me and I think this has been said in one of them!
I want to autologin to ubuntu 2d. I have done it for ubuntu 3d.
Hello.
I know Ubuntu and most of the herd are now using lightdm, but Jeremy Bicha's Ubuntu GNOME Remix uses gdm.
During the most recent install I did not select auto-login.
I have installed xfce4-power-manager when I was setting up my minimal Ubuntu install and I configured everything at that time. Since then (couple of weeks ago) I never launched it again. When I just closed my laptop and opened it again, I noticed it didn't went into hibernation - which I had setup in xfce4-power-manager.
I'm trying to create my own Ubuntu LiveCD without Unity. When lightdm loads is says (Failed to load session "ubuntu"). The autologin fails and then lightdm reloads with a normal login screen.
I can login fine with ubuntu user and if I run "sudo x-session-manager" I still get the error message (Failed to load session "ubuntu").
I'd like to achieve following:
no gnome-desktop
auto login a user and load .bashrc
auto startx and run my custom chromium
Now:
I'm able to start with text only, by adding "text" into /etc/default/grub
I'm able to login root, by editing /etc/init/tty1.conf (ref1)
but how to login as another user?
