Google announced today that it’s bringing Google Play movies, TV shows and music to its Google TV platform, through an update that will allow users to rent or buy content through the included Google Play store on Google TV devices.

Google announced on their official blog that you will soon be able to buy and rent over 600 Twentieth Century Fox titles in the Play Store. This is a major victory for Google as they are trying to compete with the massive content banks owned by Apple and Amazon.

Just when you thought Google couldn’t get any cooler, they go and make a promo video for Play Store movie rentals that is just about the most awesome ad spot I have ever seen.

Here’s some cool news for you UK readers, and only you UK readers. NOW TV’s streaming movie service is now available for Android devices and will allow you to stream movies whenever and wherever you want.

Hello everybody,

ICS on P7510 amazes me again, this time with Google Play Movies. It came with ICS (UK update), my son made a short movie, which showed in the filelist in Play Movies. Suddenly, the Google Play Movies shortcut disappeared from my Tab, although in my app list in Google Play, it appeared as installed.

Hey guys so I've purchased quite a few movies through Google Play and so far so good but I've noticed that SEVEN (:confused:) of the movies on my wishlist are no longer available through Google Play.

Australians are starting to see some movies available for purchase via the Google Play Store app.
