What is Aura? Aura is a package manager for Arch Linux. It's main purpose is as an "AUR helper", in that it automates the process of installating packages from the Arch User Repositories.

The Aura Philosophy Aura is Pacman. Aura doesn't just mimic pacman... it is pacman. All pacman operations and their sub-options are allowed. Some even hold special meaning in Aura as well. Arch is Arch.

My update manager does not give me the option to upgrade to Ubuntu 12.10. That is, the "New distribution release '12.10' is available. Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions" section is not shown.

I had the same problem upgrading to 12.04. Spent hours trying to upgrade the system, got lucky somehow, don’t definitively know how.

I'm not very good with Linux but I have an Idea and I'm not sure if it would work. Assuming that I have a server with Ubuntu server newly installed on it.

I just setup a new VM with Debian Squeeze (latest stable release, 6.0.4). I am going for a webserver, so I installed the usual... apache, php5, mysql, phpmyadmin, etc.

Everything went well, everything is working.

My question is about upgrading packages. I noticed the phpmyadmin version is 3.3.7... the latest is 3.4.10.1.

I am using ubuntu 10.10 currently and I was trying to upgrade to higher version but the update manager is not showing option for that.

What is dpkg ? it’s a package manager for Debian system, and working on other distributions built from Debian system. Used for installing and Removing packages on you system. as same as using synaptic package manager on Ubuntu, but the difference that dpkg using for individual package without installing extra dependencies for this package.

I am new bie to linux and i am using FC 9. My intention is to install latest packages of FC11 release to FC9 despite of upgrading entire OS. is their any way to do this .... I have tried doing installing ssh package of FC11 release into FC9 OS but encountered with library errors.:confused:

Any help !!!
