I Just installed Crunchbang Statler. It's a thinkpad x120e, and whenever i run aplay:~ $ aplay
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1018:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
aplay: main:654: audio open error: No such file or directoryAny solutions? I have a wireless problem too, but currently solving one bug at a time! :|
I kind of solved it. I just changed so that ALSA uses hardware instead of pulse and it works now.But aplay and alsaplayer still don't work. I get this error in aplay:aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
aplay: main:696: audio open error: Device or resource busy

Hello!I've just started my adventure with Linux. And i have a problem witch sound... i haven't sound after installation. I've run script cb-welcome twice but it gave me nothing.
I have a Thinkpad T410, Ubuntu 12.04 and Humble Bundle V.
Hi
I'm struggling to understand why sound does not work very well on my fedora 17 system.
If I run
aplay -D hw:0,0 horse.wav
I get no sound out.
If I run
aplay -D plughw:0,0 horse.wav
it works
If I run Clementine with the Gstreamer audio engine set to
Output plugin = Audio sink (ALSA)
Output device = hw:0,0
That also works.
If I run Totem Movie Player sound does not work
I'm not able to hear the sound on skype me too, I'm on testing and my output when skype try to reproduce a sound is a list of:ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1018:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
ALSA lib pulse.c:243:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Connessione rifiutataDon't know if is releated to the main topic.
Here's a clue:⋯$ aplay -l
aplay: device_list:252: no soundcards found...⋯$ aplay -L
null
Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)
pulse
PulseAudio Sound Server
default
Default ALSA Output (currently PulseAudio Sound Server)Yet there are three sound devices in the system.
Hi,
I have just installed Karmic and it can't play any audio.
aplay -l:
Code:
aplay: device_list:223: no soundcards found...
lspci-v | grep Audio:
Code:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)
What should i do to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance...
I installed traverso and have all dependencies resolved from what I can see. However, when I try to record audio from mic, there is no sound on playback.
1) Mic and capture are not muted in KMix.
2) Traverso loads ALSA driver correctly. It is in full duplex mode AFAIK.
