aticonfig problems, no GUI

http://forums.opensuse.org – Hello, I've knocked out my GUI for the second time with 11.2 and my ATI Radeon 3850. I reinstalled 11.2 to get it working after the first attempt and now I'm back there again. I believe I successfully installed the driver using the steps listed in a post here: kwin crashes - Page 3 - openSUSE Forums After I had made the two files, made the rpm and installed it I started a terminal and that's where the problems started. I made a mistake doing the ati config step. I believe I typed in Idconfig first instead of ldconfig. It didn't work. So I just typed in the second line (aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.confin). I got a lot of (for me) useless text thrown at me too fast to read, and no way of going back to read it that I knew of. So I thought let's reboot and see what happens. What happened is I lost my gui again. However, I logged in at the command line as root and discovered I had mistaken an "l" for an "I". So I tried again. The message I get is that config is not found and I need to copy a template to etc/x11. How do I do this? Where do I find the template and how do I copy it to the correct place? Thank you for your patience. (Distributions)
