First of the 56xx series does not figure on the AMD/ATI website.
I then tried to download this driver, ATI Catalyst™ 9.12 for the 57xx series. The installation did seem to passthrough correctly however once I reboot'ed and tried to run:

So my friend got new laptop with mobility radeon 5470. It's not supported by neither free nor proprietary drivers, so he is stuck with vesa - correct me if I'm wrong.
How can he achieve 1366x768 - resolution native for his lcd panel? Currently we're limited to 4:3, up to 1024x768 - scales ugly.

Hello, I am wanting to make a window (in linux, using a C program) and I want to populate it (I know the RGB value for each pixel, so I assume it will be a series of for loops) but I don't know where to start.
I know there is something called Qt and GTk (or something like that) do I use them? or OpenGL?
Tired of not knowing anything except Windows. Bought a Dell mini with Ubuntu 8.04 installed on it and I'm working on learning Unix from the command line. This Forum ought to be helpful once I get a little further along.
