ATI HD4650 + fglrx; Resolution limited to 1024x768

http://www.linuxquestions.org – Hi everyone, I'm completely out of ideas here and could use some help. I have a ATI HD4650 and I was using the fglrx driver for more than a year now. I use a dualhead xinerama screen layout, primary display is a LG TFT at 1600x1200 and secondary display is a Belinea CRT. Yesterday I wanted to have SaX take a try at configuring my stylus (unrelated topic). So I copied my xorg.conf, ran aticonfig --initial=dual-head, then SaX, tried what I wanted to and then switched to rc3 and restored the old xorg.conf. After restarting X however, my primary display is limited to 1024x768 and RandR has bee (HowTos)

I've installed ubuntu faunty and the restricted (propietary) driver and verything works fine. I can even enable compiz-fusion and play some games like savage 2 and it works fine. My problem is that i can't get a 1600x1200 reolution for my desktop (or anywhere else I've tried).

No, its not a PowerXpress setup, just try to get the graphics work as mentioned in the installation guide.After the ati-driver way was not successfull I tried it with the https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fglrx.I installed the packages from the official repository.When I run aticonfig --initial then I get:Found fglrx primary device section PowerXpress error: Cannot stat '/usr/lib/fglrx&#03

When I try to install FGLRX from the andrikos ppa, I get the following error:

I upgraded from ubuntu 11.04 to 12.04 through 11.10. The only resolution that now works is 800x600. The display is unknown.

So, I've been playing around with fglrx, trying to find a setup that I like on my box. I was having some trouble with the install from the repositories (on a Lenovo T500), and so I reset back to normal. I then tried a more manual method used here:

The process caused X to fail to load, so I followed the removal procedures.

I have an TV screen which I would like to attach to my laptop with the right resolution. Just because this is basic stuff I searched and found a lot about the xorg.conf file, modelines and so on.

My Screen has a resolution of 1920 to 1080 pixels and I created this xorg.conf

But in the nvidia settings no trace of this resolution appears.

What is wrong about this? Any Ideas?

ok so for starters, im using BT5R3, no probs.

i have an EEE pc 1005HAB and it has a intel GMA 950 chipset. my primary laptop monitor's resolution is 1024x600, works no problem. my secondary monitor which is to the right of monitor0, is running at 1024x768.

the problem is, my 2nd monitors native resolution is 1600x1200.
