I'm not updating to Ubuntu 12.10, because they've seriously messed things up in it and from what I've seen from my friends, it is also glitchy.
What I am wondering is how to install the AMD Catalyst 12.10 Drivers in Ubuntu 12.04.
I have a Radeon HD 6600M which is working fine with my current drivers, which are the AMD Catalyst 12.6's or 12.8's, not sure.
I am really new to ubuntu. Installed 12.10 it this weekend. The interface is lagging me like crazy and I think it is because I can't get my 6950 drivers installed. I downloaded the latest drivers from AMD.com. I am a noob so all I did was type "sudo sh amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13.1-linux-x86.x86_64.run" I don't know if I need to do anything else by the way.. Heh.
Latest proprietary AMD Catalyst driver version 12.9 cannot be used with Ubuntu 12.10 If you have a AMD Radeon HD 2xxx-4xxx series card.
Drivers for these cards are now available in a separate branch called legacy series. Unfortunately these legacy drivers (version 12.6) have not been updated to work with Ubuntu 12.10.
Hi there! The ati graphics-card i have installet in my laptop is HD 5470.
I have installed the drivers both from the repositories AND from System Settings -> Additional Drivers -> ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver. I can locate the Catalyst Control Center, but i cannot open it.

Just got a new computer, installed Kubuntu on it, and have been working on getting it set up. Overall, been going well. However, the one thing I've never bothered with is installing proprietary video drivers in linux.

Dear Ubunteros,
I wanted to install the new catalyst Drivers from the ATI website for my Radeon HD 4870. Why? Because when I use wine with the current driver, my processor goes to 100% (even if I ask only for winecfg). With the lastest Catalyst drivers, this problem with wine is solved.
