Asus Pike is usable as PCIe x4

http://hardforum.com – This is just a friendly heads-up to anyone looking at Asus server / workstation boards which have their 'proprietary' PIKE slot. Contrary to popular belief, this slot is not strictly limited to Asus Pike products, but can actually be used as a regular PCIe slot by using a flexible riser card. The front half of the PIKE slot is just a PCIe x8 slot installed backwards and providing x4 bandwidth. I'm not 100% on the back half, but based on a quick pin count, I'd be willing to say it's likely a configuration of two SFF-8484 connections. Testing on a KGPE-D16 board, this works with pretty muc (Hardware)
