http://www.talkandroid.com – I’m not sure if you remember the cool 7-inch ASUS tablet we got to check out at this years CES, the MeMO 171. This little device stuck out in my mind after leaving the show for one reason, it’s ability to use a the bundled Bluetooth MeMIC to make and receive phone calls through the tablet. Yes the 7-inch tablet actually doubles as a phone, and no ASUS doesn’t expect you to hold it up to your face. The included handheld accessory may have limited functions but when used just for phone calls while the tablet is in your bag, I think this one of the coolest tablet accessories I (IT news)

ASUS just introduced a low priced ($149) Jelly Bean tablet, the MeMo Pad 7.  And now a German tech site, TechHive, has uncovered a YouTube video showing a pretty snappy 10-inch version. The video refers to the tablet as the ASUS MeMo Pad 10 Smart. It doesn’t show much in terms of specs but it seems to be running a skinned version of Jelly Bean.

  ASUS seems intent on dominating the budget-tablet market by introducing yet another tablet called the MeMO Pad. This 7-inch tablet features a 1,024 x 600 display, a VIA WM8950 chip clocked at 1GHz plus a Mali-400 GPU, is available in 8GB or 16GB configurations (plus a microSD card slot) and has Jelly Bean running the show.

At this week's Computex conference in Taipei, Asus unveiled an Android-based hybrid tablet/smartphone device called the Padfone, embedding a removable smartphone in a 10.1-inch tablet. The company also announced a more conventional seven-inch tablet called the Eee Pad Memo 3D, with Android 3.x, a stylus, and glasses-free 3D video playback....

ASUS has had no problems hitting cheap price points on their tablets without sacrificing specs. They recently launched the MeMO Pad, and at $149, it’s an extremely high quality tablet. The latest reports that are coming in say that they may try to get just a little cheaper by offering a 7 inch tablet powered by Intel’s Atom Z2420 dual-core CPU.

What a day folks — mere moments talking up Asus’ new Padfone Infinity, CEO Jonney Shih just revealed that the oft-rumored Fonepad is an honest-to-goodness product. Confused? I don’t blame you. The PadFone is a Android-powered smartphone that physical docks into a larger tablet enclosure. The Fonepad on the other hand is an 7-inch Android tablet that can make phone calls.

Not to be outdone by Google and Asus, Acer has now officially joined the 7-inch tablet party by releasing the Iconia A110 in the UK. Boasting specs very similar to that of the Nexus 7, it seems like Acer’s offering may hold its own in the hot 7-inch tablet market.

Just in case you guys couldn’t make it to Taipei for this year’s Computex to see ASUS unveil their “next transformation,” you can watch the unveiling on YouTube right now. Among the other nifty gadgets ASUS announced at the event, the ASUS Transformer AiO has got to be one of the coolest, most unnecessary devices I have ever seen.

Just last month ASUS announced the 7-inch MeMO Pad, which isn’t a bad little device for $149. What’s so special about it? Well other than the price, not too much. It will feature a 7-inch (1024 x 600) display, 1GHz CPU, Mali-400 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8 or 16GB of storage, microSD slot, 1MP front camera, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

A couple of months ago there were reports that a $99 Nexus 7 tablet might be in the works, but after the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 was announced, the news on that all but disappeared.  Some sites are now reporting that it’s coming sooner rather than later because an ASUS made 7-inch tablet just showed up in the GLBenchmarks under the model ME-172V.
