True Ventures’ partners Tony Conrad and Puneet Agarwal joined me for Ask A VC in the studio this week, where we talked about a renaissance in the hardware industry (True has investments in a number of hardware startups including Fitbit and Makerbot).
Another topic we delved into was the whole enterprise vs.
Earlier this month, we wrote that High Fidelity, the virtual world startup led by Second Life founder Philip Rosedale, had raised $2.4 million of a $3.4 million round, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Hey, remember that $325 million fund we said Trinity Ventures was raising last week?
Ask A VC is back this week with Google Ventures’ general partner Karim Faris. As you may remember, you can submit questions for our guests either in the comments or here and we’ll ask them during the show.
At Google Ventures, Faris focuses on the enterprise and ecommerce, and has helped the firm lead investments in ClearStory Data, Expect Labs, PuppetLabs, Egnyte, Duo Security among others.
Crittercism, the San Francisco-based makers of a performance management and error monitoring system for app developers, announced today that it has raised $12 million in series B financing. The round was led by Google Ventures, with contributions from existing investors, Shasta Ventures and Opus Capital.
Lerer Ventures, one of the better known seed stage venture capital funds based out of New York, is raising a $30 million fund, according to its Form D filed today with the SEC. It’s the third fund in the venture firm’s history and aims to raise the bar a bit from Lerer’s second fund, of $25 million, which it raised in May 2011.
After a brief hiatus for SXSW, Ask A VC is back this week with MkII Ventures’ Ron Palmeri. As you may remember, you can submit questions for our guest either in the comments or here and we’ll ask them during the show.
Over the past few years there’s been a rise of company builders, or “studios,” in the technology and VC world.
Cinemagram, a startup founded in Montreal that’s now moving to San Francisco, today announced an $8.5 million Series A round via AllThingsD. The investment comes from Menlo Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Real Ventures and Atlas, and stands as an exception to the decidedly reserved climate for follow-on capital after a startup’s seed round.
TastemakerX, a music discovery mobile application, which previously operated as something of a “stock market for bands,” is today announcing $1.25 million in new funding from Baseline Ventures, True Ventures, Guggenheim Venture Partners and Aol Ventures*.
