Welcome to part 3 of our overview of the KDE 4.3 System Settings panel, the replacement for the old control panel of KDE 3.5. Today we're going to look at the Computer Administration master section. This will be a key area for those wanting to administer their own section. So sit ...
In our original article two years ago, we did a complete overview of the entire KDE 3.5 Control Center, a task that was not small by any stretch of the imagination. But since so many of you felt that it was unbelievably helpful to you, as well as instrumental in instructing new users on the us .....
If like Windows Control Panel, then you’ll like Control Center in Ubuntu. From the Control Center in both Windows and Ubuntu, you can configure almost every part of your system from a single application.
I can't see how $LANG, or /etc/sysconfig/i18n is supposed to be set on a KDE system.
The 'system settings' control panel has 'Personal -> Keyboard Layout' but that applies to X apps once the user has logged in to X, not the system, and provides a way of the user changing the keyboard at runtime. It's 'disabled' on mine because I never need to change the keyboard.
I've searched through various packages and applications in Synaptic, but I can't find any panel applets that will let me control screen brightness settings.
Does such a panel applet exist? Is it part of some larger package?
I'm looking for something that will give me close to one-click access to brightness settings.

Hi,
I am new user of Ubuntu OS. I had installed Ubuntu 12.04. Unfortunately 'System Settings' option got disappeared. If I click on the 'System Settings' at the right corner (above) of the desktop, it does not open. That's why I installed 'system settings' from the ubuntu software center. But it's KDE based. Also the screen shot is completely different from the default 'system settings'.
Hi -- I've searched for an answer, but found none. I love the Unity desktop, but miss the menu items in the top panel. I can open System Settings easily, but how do I open System? To get to System > Administration, for example.
Is the Unity top panel really as dead as mine seems? Right-click does nothing; can't pin things to it. Is that right, or is mine broken?
Thanks mucho!
I'm using proprietary driver ATI (FGLRX).
My problem is that after restarting system all settings which I did in Catalyst Control Center does not apply, though displayed correctly (eg gamma set to 0.75, and if I click on the arrow up or down, along with the value settings once applied correctly)
When I restart the system settings are gamma 1.0, although I put them on 0.75.
