The Archos GamePad was announced in August and is still an extremely intriguing device. This tablet is clearly made for the gamer in us all. It has buttons on the side so the entire 7 inch 1024 x 600 screen is available for looking at what you’re doing.
ARCHOS announced the 7-inch GamePad in August, but we were still waiting on a release. Looks our friends in Europe can get a taste of it starting today. It’s officially available for a price of €149.99 ($195). They also announced that those of us in North America can expect to see it in early 2013.
It was only last month that we reported on ARCHOS’ innovative GamePad, a tablet with built in gaming controls (which is an increasingly popular trend this year at CES). The GamePad originally released only in Europe, but ARCHOS promised us it’d come to the states by early 2013. Well, we got some hands on time with the gaming tablet here at CES.
Archos announced five new Android-based tablets running Android 2.2 on 800MHz to 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processors, all offering 720p HD video playback and 802.11n Wi-Fi. Shipping this fall, the tablets include the 2.8-inch Archos 28, the 3.2-inch Archos 32, the 4.3-inch Archos 43, the seven-inch Archos 70, and the 10.1-inch Archos 101, says the company....

French consumer electronics company Archos has turned a lot of heads in the last three years with their Android phones and tablets. The FCC has just cleared another Archos Android offering, this time another tablet.
If you remember, we previously showed you a brief glimpse of ARCHOS’ new Gen10 tablet earlier this month. Today, ARCHOS has officially unveiled the new Gen10 XS line of tablets which is the successor to last year’s G9 tablets.
ARCHOS just unveiled the 97 Carbon tablet, which is part of their new Elements line. This new line will consist of 7, 8 and this 9.7-inch tablets and will target a wide demographic of consumers. All of them will have access to the Google Play Store and will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
ARCHOS released the G9 tablets in October of last year, but since then released Turbo versions with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich in the box. I thought I would give one a shot since it’s one of the few tabs with ICS and it’s priced right. ARCHOS hasn’t been known for quality, but this newer G9 series is supposed to be a step in the right direction for them.
