https://bbs.archlinux.org – VirtualBox is good but make sure you have automated saves with revisioning, I'm sure there's a feature in Visual Studio for that, turned on.  It could crash and you don't want to lose a lot of work if that happens.  I've only used VirtualBox in Windows with a Linux guest and get the occasional crash.  In Linux with a Windows guest you'll have to experiment a bit and get a feel for it yourself.  A dual-boot solution would be ideal although: you could use Windows for work and Linux after hours. headkase https://bbs.archlinux.org/profile.php?i (HowTos)

I'm getting the same error for virtualbox virtualbox-host-modulesJust hold off on the update untill 3.7 is in stable, I doubt it will take more than a week or so

Please investigate the following logs:~/.VirtualBox/VBoxSVC.logThe Logs/VBox.log file of the guest that is running when this happens - this log is in a subfolder off the folder where the guest is installed, search for it if you can't find it.~/.xsession-errors/var/log/messages.log (the kernel log)Also, launch virtualbox from a terminal, and see if there is any errors thrown back at the consol

I went ahead and built the modules from guestadditions iso and so far it is all good.I wanted to boot to run level 3 because of video module but for some reason passing '3' to the kernel command line does nothing.

Are you sure that you ran those commands in the guest OS (and not on the host OS) ? After all, they're called guest additions. Because it's easy to misinterpret if both the guest and the host are Arch Linux.Try adding more video RAM. The default is 12 MB.If it's GNOME or KDE, you probably need around 128 MB.
