Hi all,i found that when i enable autologin at slim wheni rebooted an error appear "Xfce power manager HAL daemon is not running".is not big deal i think cause everything else was working fine but when i triedto shutdown or reboot my pc, my pc was not able to do so. i mean when i waspressing shutdown, the pc was "freezed" to the "plz standby" message.
Hey gang. Simple but head-scratching problem. Sometimes, and only sometimes, my system refuses to shut down or reboot. Using either the Exit menu, or the requisite commands for shut down or reboot in Terminal, the system just sits and waits. I can use the system as normal while the ghosted box for Shutdown "Please Wait.." is on screen, indefinitely.
Any difference if you use KDE shutdown dialog, or use "sudo shutdown -h now" ?Are bundles unmounting cleanly? Tried stopping bundles and running "cb-clean-lopps" before shutting down?
I don't mean to wield the Grammar Hammer here, but something that's been irking me on shutdown is a message that says "Shutting down, please standby" after you hit the "shutdown" button. On this side of the Atlantic, and maybe in Britain it's different, we'd say "please stand by" -- two words -- meaning to wait, as opposed to being on "standby,
Pressing the shutdown or restart buttons in XFCE simply logs me out and leaves the system running.
I did some Googling and it was suggested that by default users don't have permission to shutdown. (not sure how this is a XFCE specific problem in that case but moving on...)
I've taken the following advice found on this forum:
Some are fairly obvious. Specifically, I am referring to:
-h halt or power off after shutdown
-H halt after shutdown (implies -h)
-P power off after shutdown (implies -h)
Isn't halting or powering off kind of expected when you're shutting down?
Hi,
I updated from Fedora11 to Fedora12. Now I would like reboot / Shutdown the system but it does not reboot. Whenever I click Reboot or shutdown, it comes back to login screen without booting.
Any help is highly appreciated before I press power off switch. Also, ABRT service is not running is flashing at corner.
Thanks for your time and help.
Hi All,
Since a fresh install of 11.10 (64 bit), the system does not shutdown or reboot (longest it has been left is overnight). Until I purged modemmanager, the processes were stopping on "modem-manager[xxx]: <info> Caught signal 15, shutting down... [fail]" or similar. It is not coming to "Killing all remaining processes...
This is very rare.
