apt-get, older package versions and dependency resolution

http://serverfault.com – I'm trying to install a slightly older version of puppet (2.7.8 as opposed to 2.7.9) for consistency purposes among a cluster of servers I manage. However, when I attempt to do so, apt-get throws a mysterious error: xxxx@xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx:~$ sudo apt-get install puppet=2.7.8-1puppetlabs1 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. sudo apt-get install g++

I want download ghc6. But, when I type

sudo apt-get install ghc6 sudo apt-get -f install ghc6 sudo apt-get install --reinstal ghc6

it gives same error:

Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed.

When I try to install qt-sdk I get the following output:

I was trying to install Chinese(traditional) language pack, but it comes out an unmet dependency error. I have tried sudo apt-get install -f then sudo dpkg --configure -a and sudo apt-get update using the official server already, but the problem still exists. These show up in the terminal:

I want to install testdisk to ubuntu 10.04 LTS but i'm getting an error. Any help? Here is the output:

# sudo apt-get install testdisk Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed.

When I try to install gir1.2-gwibber-gtk-0.2, I get the following errors :

I just did:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webapps/preview sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get install unity-webapps-preview

and get the following message:

i cant install the bind server i was trying to do clean rap cache and update,

this is what i get after running the apt-get install bind8 / apt-get install -f bind9
