I'm running Debian Lenny on a Linksys NSLU2 Slug, I haven't run updates on it for a while.
upon running apt update I get the following error after it gets stuck on reading the package list at about 30%
Code:
E: Read error - read (5 Input/output error)

Trying to get my Ubuntu server to upgrade, but it keeps getting hung up on trying to make an initrd for a kernel that's no longer installed.
Any ideas how to make this stop?
OK,
I know now that I shouldn't have deleted the installed files, I should have run "apt-get remove", but it's too late now.
I'd like to clean up apt/dpkg so that it doesn't think the package whose files I've deleted is still installed, but when I run:
Code:
apt-get remove --purge linux-image-2.6.32-2.slh.4
I get the following:
After going from Debian Lenny to squeeze, everything was going OK,apart from 8 broken packages of which I was easily able to fix 7 of the packages. The last one is x-org core, which comes up with the error message /var/cache/apt/archives/udev_150-2_i386.deb returned an error.
I installed a package that now prevents my using Synaptic and otherwise blocks updates etc.
I have tried the partial upgrade scenario but it won't remove it.
I used - apt-get -f install (bad file name)
The response I get is - The package (bad filename) needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.

I recently installed a newer kernel to get the open source driver for my ATI card, but am now getting the following error between booting and logging in:
Warning: unable to find suitable fs in /proc/mounts. Is it mounted?
After doing some research I can see it has something to do with apparmor. My questions are:
Hey all.
