My dash is completely empty. The alt-f2 run screen load applications if I type in the commands. But the others are completely empty on my own profile. In a guest profile, they work as expected.
I've read the other similar questions and tried both of these options.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit and it was all fine until last week. Now, there are several problems that I'm encountering:
I cannot change my desktop background.
Application lens is installed, but no applications are shown in the dash.

Ubuntu 12.4 Apparent defect in dash. Unless I am using it incorrectly The Application Lens in Dash only presents a very limited selection of applications installed.
The Ubuntu Answers Lens is an Unity Lens that allows users to easily and quickly find answers to common questions directly from Unity Dash. Users will be able to right click an answer in order to view detailed information about what they searched for. The Lens uses the automatton.org API for queries, which gathers information from popular websites like Wikipedia, Yahoo!
though I prefer using Fogger instead of creating web-apps in chrome, I don't need the Fogger lens in my Unity Dash. The few web-apps I have are easily found via global search or applications lens.
I tried sudo apt-get purge unity-lens-fogger and some variations, but had no success.
Can anyone tell me under what name the Fogger lens can be removed?
