Apple snipes back at Adobe over Flash

With Apple's banning Adobe Flash based content on all of its mobile devices, Adobe announced that it has now officially given up on Apple.

In case you'd missed it, Apple and Adobe are locked in a battle. It's a battle over which standards will prevail in our web browsers. On one side, Adobe and its Flash platform is the reigning champion. Flash has been the powerhouse behind the distribution of video and other rich web content. But coming out of the other corner is the challenger.

Adobe this week has expressed confidence Apple will cave eventually on its stubborn blocking of Flash on the iPhone.

Earlier this month, an Adobe employee told Apple to go screw itself over its new restrictive developer policies for the iPhone 4.0. Now, Adobe says, it's moving on, officially focusing its Flash technology on Google's Android and other competing smartphone platforms....

The Apple vs Adobe war has escalated, with the iPhone OS 4 SDK decreeing that iPhone and iPad developers can’t use Adobe software to create their apps.

Apple has introduced a new clause to its iPhone developer licence that restricts the languages that can be used to write apps. Adobe isn't mentioned, but it is the apparent target of the change.
