I am trying to make an android application with voice recognition into it.
What I want to do is, I want to record a speech convert it into text and save it,then when ever I use the same speech or rather speak the same text my application should start in background by checking that the speech matches the saved text.

google has done a great job. I test japanese, chinese and english speech-to-text, and they all work really well.if you are smart, you can create a notebook program with my "speech-to-text". At least I got it to work with vim and secretly took notes in class.

I need some ideas on where to start for developing a voice command based app in linux. I don't want to do a full speech recognition (as in speech to text). I want my application to react to a set of predetermined commands, for example "start", "stop", "left", "right" etc.

I just upgraded my Galaxy Note 10.1 model GT-N8013 from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 today through the official software update and I'm liking the upgrades. However, the text to speech, is just everywhere on the home screens. Every time I swipe pages it will announce it is changing pages or opening and closing folders (which it also did in ICS.) Argh, it drives me nuts!
I have a custom rom Stryke from Civato, it is excellent and fast. The only problem is that it only provides google voice Text to speech engine and when I use Mantano Reader that it comes up with a text aloud reader does not work. When I use another Rom that comes with PICO TTS by defect works like a charm but I want this app works with my TEXT TO SPEECH as well as Stryke Rom.
