Hello all! Recently my dad has bought a fancy lcd tv, so I'm looking for a media center app. I wanted to try Boxee, but I cannot find it neither in repos neither a download link :( Next going XBMC.. What's the difference between xbmc, xbmc live and xbmc standalone? Does xbmc has web browser to watch movies online?
hi.
XBMC, an open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub for digital media that is available for multiple platforms, is now at version 12 RC2. XBMC 12 RC 2 has been dubbed Frodo and brings tons of fixes, but the most important change is by far the introduction of Android Support.

I am running "Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.2.0-31-generic x86_64)" with the XBMC application installed, and set the system to boot into an XBMC specific desktop session on boot.
I followed the guide in their wiki to configure Wake-on-USB for the MCE Remote I have.

Everything worked fine until last night.
Hello and merry Christmas!I have a problem installing XBMC. I have added the debian multimedia repos and am able to install XBMC 10 but that's too old. I would ideally like to install 11 or even 12 rc2. The problem is that when trying to install 11 or 12 rc2 using the Wheezy (testing) and Sid (unstable), the xbmc-bin and xbmc-data packages are corrupt.
I have installed XBMC from repo on openSUSE 11.2 64 but I can't use any plugin.
When I paste some plugin folder in /xbmc/plugins/program (SVN_Repo_Installer) it is visible in XBMC but nothing happens when I try to open it in XBMC.
I have tried many plugins but non worked.
Any ideas?
