Its a geeky idea, but it would be interesting if one could see their relative speed to their destination. For example, you are heading home and going 60mph on the road, but the road does not go straight to your house. Nonetheless you are getting closer, but not at 60mph. The app would calculate the speed you are actually going directly towards your destination, which would be less than your road speed. It could even be a negative number. (HowTos)

I hope to develop an location based android app to get current location coordinates and display landmarks near the location , the road you are traveling etc. My problem is that, if someone is traveling in a wide road -the left,right and middle coordinates of the road may vary.As a result of this it may give incorrect road name. Therefore how can I get a correct coordinate of that particular road.

I have been looking for an app to replace my 3 year old Garmin GPS. The test was to drive to a rural location about 15 miles away which we were familiar with for a Christmas party. The destination has been in existance for 5+ years.

Results: Sygic - couldn't find address. Disqualified. CoPilot - couldn't find address.

I use dd-wrt as my home router setup and that's been working fine. Now I wanted to figure out a way to be able to use my iPad to set up a IPSec tunnel to my home network while I'm on the road.

PPTP is pretty much insecure at this point so I want to use something IPSec based. Based on what I can find, dd-wrt does not support IPSec.

Slow network with e1000 6 weeks 5 days ago

I've got a problem with my network speed. I sometimes have full download speed (i.e. 5 MB/s, which is about my max. internet dl-speed) and sometimes comparable slow speed (about 0.5 MB/s). This is affects both internet and home network!

When I got slow network speed it stays that way until I 'renew' the module for my PCI network card (sudo rmmod e1000 followed by sudo modprobe e1000).

It's called Speed of Sound, and adjusts the volume of your music player to match your speed on the road. Some cars do this, this is for those of us without that.
