apache/squid as caching proxy for S3 over ssl

http://serverfault.com – We have setup up a apache reverse proxy in conjunction with squid as a caching proxy for amazon S3. A server application is communicating with this proxy layer and caching works just fine saving bandwidth for our customer. All this was fine until the complete communication was over http. But now the customer has mandated SSL between proxy and S3( in other words over internet). Is it possible to set up the caching proxy layer in such a way that outbound http traffic from the server app can be converted https on the fly by the proxy and then vice versa for inbound? I know that you can install (HowTos)
