Got a version of MS Office 2007 installed on my Windows partition. I am using WINE 1.2.2 on Ubuntu 10.4 LTS (which has been upgraded here and there along the way).
I can use all the other MS Office appliations without any problems. Power Point, Excel, etc...
BUT - when I try to us Word it crashes. I can open it - and type - but anything else (trying to save, whatever) it will crash.
Many Android devices ship with stripped-down office suite apps that offer limited functionality loosely based on the kind you'd get with Microsoft Office on your desktop. Having had a discussion recently with someone who now regularly travels without a laptop, depending solely on his Apple iPad for office functions, I was keen to see just how far these Office-like tools could go.
Preface: This is a howto, not a question.
Today, after beating my brains out trying to install Office 2007 with Wine 1.4 in Precise, I ended up resorting to using PlayOnLinux. What I learned about PlayOnLinux is that it makes installing things a dream, but it makes the general usability of those things an absolute nightmare.
I've recently installed an openbox version of cb-a2 and noticed one problem. Once I've installed crossover office and restored my backup-archive for microsoft office (only word and excel there) there are not open with menus. However I did the "set-file types" inside COO, no files in home/.local/share/applications/ where created to support "open with".
Hi Everyone,
I am new to Ubuntu and I was curious if anybody could help me with some questions I have in setting up a LAN that consists mostly of Ubuntu OS machines and one Windows XP machine w/MS Office.
I would like to use the XP machine as an "application server" for MS Office that the other Ubuntu workstations could access.
Is this possible?
I have some serious issues with Polaris which I have been unable to correct even with calls to htc. As an example it will not open some Excel files, I get the message that there is "not enough memory to extract the file" which is a 1.5 Meg file, and with PowerPoint files some slides are ok while others are empty of content.
I love Kingsoft office application, and i'm using it on my office's win os computer and android because for my opinion, this office more compatible with ms office 2003/2007 than openoffice / libreoffice.
Unfortunately, Kingoffice for linux only available for chinese version (called: WPS Office, beta version when i'm writing this thread)
Searching with google, finally we can change to english

I have Linux Mint installed on my wife's laptop along with Wine/Office 2003. (she wants MS Office!). here's the issue:
She pulls up a word document in MS Word that has graphics in it. When she prints to her HP 2600N laser printer, the graphics do not print out. She also has blank boxes on the 2nd page that print out solid black.
