Hello all, trying to access my NAS but having trouble. In my PC I have a USB wireless network adaptor connection to my router, and I have the NAS connected via the ethernet port in the same PC. I assumed it would be a simple case of connecting the NAS, running ifconfig to find the IP address of the NAS and connecting via web browser.
So, I have a wireless connection and I want to setup my linux box to share it with my LAN.
Sounds straight-forward, and I'd have no problem doing this setting up my router with DD-WRT as a bridge. However, the WiFi connection is an ad-hoc network using ICS through my Windows Mobile Verizon phone and the router won't connect to it.
I just bought a TRENDNET TDM C4000 (=modem/ wiredrouter) and got it working. If I connect my computer with through the ethernet port directly, the internet will work. However, when I try connecting the ends of the ethernet cable on the modem and my wireless router, it's not transmitting. I know I set up the wireless router correctly because it worked with my previous modem.

Complete novice about wireless setup/use.
I need a yes/no answer as to if what I want to do will work and if yes then what is the term for the setup so I can search for some information.
I have a desktop pc connected by ethernet cable to a Modem/router/switch that came bundled with our connection.
I have a Netgear router in my living room that has the wireless signal. It is connected to a Powerline plug that goes up to my bedroom. That is plugged into another router that is used as an ethernet hub. It's cables go into my PS3 and my server. The second router shows up as a hidden network on my laptop, and I can connect to it.
So the setup looks like this:
There is a main WLAN-router/modem which is connected to the internet and serves the lower floor with WLAN. Now upstairs I have a second WLAN-router/modem (I will call it router two from now on). A normal ethernet cable is plugged in in router two in one of the four ethernet ports and also in one of the four ethernet ports in router one.
Hi,
I am using Ubuntu and need to set up the wi-fi. My current internet connection is via a wired ethernet cable without a Modem. But in almost all the cases of setting up process they say,"Connect the wire from the modem to the router.", while setting up the router.
Hi all,

One PC is located at about 2 feet from the wireless router, the former on table top and latter under table.
