http://ubuntuforums.org – I would like to build an application that mimics the bash scripts I am used to using in Ubuntu. Goal - To remotely turn on my home's media server with one touch. When script is selected to run the phone/tablet will perform the following sequence: 1. Run App: Connect Bot 2. Enter: Password to connect to ssh server 3. Enter: "ps3mediaserver" into Connect Bot terminal emulator 4. Run App: Media Home Anyone have a starting point? (Hardware)

I have a Windows Home Server running on my home network and I lose the ability to connect to it on a regular basis. Sometime sit will stay connected for hours and lately the longest it has stayed reachable has been 5 days. This server is a fairly vanilla installation on an Acer Aspire easyStore Home Server.

I am currently building a home server and I am trying to give minimal permissions to every service.

I have so many picture of my kids, and movies and videos. I really want to create media server. After doing some research on the internet, I am going to install Ubuntu media server. This old server I have has two disk drive. I was thinking about mirroring that. After that I want to add external USB drive for the data. Just want to find out if that will work.

About to start a home server build, primary purpose will be to serve as a NAS to windows 7 network plus an XBMC based HTPC (yet to be built).

I'm planning on installing ubuntu server 12.04, create some samba shares and run FlexRAID. I want to store media files on this NAS primarily. Don't plan on doing much of anything else at this point.

I recently setup a media server with Karmic on it. I would like to log onto the machine while at home from my laptop, with ssh, however networking is my least understood topic. Ultimately I'd like to ssh to it from anywhere, although I have a dynamic IP.

I was provided with sftp servername, user and password and the requirement is to connect to sftp server using credentials provided and drop the file. Manually i am able to connect with commands like sftp user@servername and after clicking enter, i was asked for a password and entering the password i am able to get it the remote server. How can i do the same using scripts i.e when i execute
