Digital metrics firm comScore today released its most recent mobile market share report, detailing trends in the mobile industry for the three month period ending in September. The survey of over 30,000 mobile subscribers in the U.S.

Nielsen released its U.S. smartphone subscriber numbers for June, showing Android inching up to 39 percent share ahead of Apple's iPhone with 28 percent. Meanwhile, some Android smartphone devices are being returned at a rate of 30 to 40 percent, claims an industry report....

Android tablet computers will grow from 32 percent global market share in the third quarter to an estimated 40.3 percent through the fourth quarter, reducing Apple's iPad share to 59 percent, projects IDC. The growth in Android tablets is due largely to the popularity of the low-cost Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet, says the study....

comScore released smartphone manufacturer and operating system data today for the first quarter of 2013 in the U.S. market. The numbers show Android continuing to dominate with 52 percent market share for operating systems. This was down slightly from December 2012 when Android held 53.4 percent of the market.

Android took the top position among U.S. smartphone market share with 35 percent, followed by Apple's iPhone and RIM's BlackBerry, each with 24 percent, says a Pew Research study. Android is particularly strong among younger adults and African Americans, says the study....

Android has continued to gain smartphone OS market share this spring, gaining four percentage points from February through May to take 13 percent of the market, says ComScore. Meanwhile, a recent Pew report shows that 40 percent of Americans are now using mobile phone Internet services, up from 32 percent in 2009....

Well, folks, the July 2012 ComScore numbers are in and we’re seeing more of the same… Samsung and Android are both still leading in market share. Sammy posted a 25.6 percent lead in the U.S. market, down 0.3 percent from April, but still dominant overall.

Android represented a whopping 46.4 percent of global smartphone shipments in Q2 2011, with 34 percent of Android's total coming from Samsung, putting it a close second behind Apple, says ABI Research. The research firm also released a teardown analysis of the HTC Sensation and its highly integrated smartphone processor -- the dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260....

A new research study has determined that Android tablets have made a strong impact among adult tablet owners in the US. In 2011, Android tablets occupied just 15 percent of the market share. Here we are in 2012, and the number has grown to an astronomical 48 percent. Of the 48 percent, 21 percent of users own the Kindle Fire and 8 percent own some form of the Galaxy Tab.
