AMD announced the availability of two new Embedded G-Series processors with TDP ratings of 5.5 and 6.4 Watts, said to be up to 39 percent more power efficient than an earlier 1.2GHz G-Series processor.
As expected, AMD used a morning press conference in Taipei to announce its tablet-specific Z-Series processors -- the first of which is the dual-core Z-01, with a 5.9-Watt TDP. The chipmaker also reviewed branding plans for its A-Series & Llano& processor for notebooks, shipping this month, and previewed downsized APUs (accelerated processing units) it plans to release later this year....
Intel launched a bevy of new processors, including its highest-end desktop CPU and new, security-enhanced 32nm CPUs for the enterprise. The Xeon Processor 5600 series also includes the chipmaker's first six-core embedded processors, plus a dual-core processor for & micro servers& that has a TDP of only 30 Watts, the company says....
Freescale Semiconductor announced a series of 28nm-fabbed QorIQ multicore processors, featuring a 64-bit PowerPC core clocked up to 2.5GHz. The Linux-ready Advanced Multiprocessing (AMP) QorIQ series will debut in early 2012 with the T4240, offering 12 cores dual-threaded to 24 virtual cores, numerous acceleration engines, and cascading power management, says Freescale....

AMD invited both media and vendors down to Los Angeles last week to learn about the company's upcoming products and technologies, such as the Fusion-based Llano CPU (err, APU) and Radeon HD 6800 series. We were there, and have some preliminary information on both, as well as some light information about the event itself.
