AMD Radeon HD 7470M proprietary driver not working on ubuntu 12.04lts

http://askubuntu.com – I am using 64-bit 12.04LTS. I have manually tried to install AMD Radeon HD 7470M proprietary drivers from AMD official site. But, after installing, when I tried to launch Catalyst Control Center, a message is shown like this: "There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux edition. It could be caused by the following. No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for you AMD hardware, or configure using aticonfig." (HowTos)

Hi there! The ati graphics-card i have installet in my laptop is HD 5470. I have installed the drivers both from the repositories AND from System Settings -> Additional Drivers -> ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver. I can locate the Catalyst Control Center, but i cannot open it.

Hi everyone. I have installed opensuse 11.2 64bit on my sony-vaio vgn-CR353, with ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 graphic card. I have a problem with its driver... when I run sax2, its detect the grapich card, but I can't use any special effect & activate that on Desktop effect, so I'can't activate/use compiz too.

I have agp radeon HD 3450 graphic card. I've tried using proprietary driver but i couldn't do a bunch of stuff, movies stuck, etc.. Anyway now i use open source driver from ubuntu repositories, the one that is installed with system.

My problem is this. Resoluton of the screen that best fits me is 1152x644. But in monitor properties i can't set this resolition. Only 1024x768 and 1280x1024.

I just got a new/used computer with an AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card.
