We took a hard look last week at AMD's Radeon HD 6870 and HD 6850, and in the end, were left impressed. The FPS/$ ratio was superb, as was the feature-set. How do things look when the same cards are tossed into a CrossFireX setup? Well, AMD claims an up to 1.99x gain in certain games, so let's see how reliable that figure is.

AMD's top-end Radeon HD 6970 2GB is one of the best GPU choices on the market right now, and adding to its flavor a bit, Sapphire customized the reference card to produce the Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam edition. In addition to featuring a copy of the game, it comes complete with many accessories (including an HDMI cable).

I have had an AMD Radeon HD 6950 (i.e., Cayman series) for a couple years now, and I have tried a lot of combinations of drivers and settings with terrible results. I'm completely at a loss as to how to proceed.

I am really new to ubuntu. Installed 12.10 it this weekend. The interface is lagging me like crazy and I think it is because I can't get my 6950 drivers installed. I downloaded the latest drivers from AMD.com. I am a noob so all I did was type "sudo sh amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13.1-linux-x86.x86_64.run" I don't know if I need to do anything else by the way.. Heh.

I have a new custom built computer with the following graphics card in it:

XFX Double D HD-687A-ZDFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

I would like to know if I would be able to run 4 40" tvs and 2 24' monitors if I ran two of these cards in crossfire mode.

Using Ubuntu 11.10

Have 3 Amd HD6970's

Using ATI Catalyst 11.12.

Obviously Only one card is detected.

How do i enable the other 2 so i can have 3way crossfirex ?

AMD has put out their first public documentation concerning their Radeon HD 6900 "Cayman" series graphics processors. This 492 page document describes the Cayman instruction set architecture. We have also received an update at Phoronix from AMD concerning the Radeon HD 6900 series open-source support under Linux.
