I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed in Amazon EC2 machine, at times when I SSH into the machine I a notice asking me update some packages as shown in the below image
My Question
How does updates notices appear on Amazon EC2?
If these updates are new how are they shipped from Canonical to Amazon Server?
I am able to make a Centos 5.x AMI by following steps similar to those outlined here:
http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/creating-loopb...
and detailed here:
http://www.philchen.com/2009/02/14/how-to-create-an-amazon-elastic-compu...
However this process does not work as noted for CentOS 6 because there is no Xen kernel.

Users sick of waiting on Amazon to provide current downloaders for Linux will be pleased with Banshee 1.8. Just released, the new version can browse the Amazon MP3 store and act as a downloader for Amazons .amz files, plus a number of other new enhancements and features.

We were able to install DirectAdmin (a Web hosting control panel) on Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud, branded as EC2. We would like to share the steps required to build a working instance of DirectAdmin on an Amazon server. First, I would like to personally thank Mark from DirectAdmin for being so accommodating and granting us a trial license. His help is very much appreciated!
I'm a software/web developer and for the first time I have to set up a cloud system to host one of the websites I have coded. I found very difficult to estimate the costs for an Amazon EC2 cloud system using the provided calculator.
We all know that Amazon is a major player in the U.S. on numerous fronts, and the Amazon Cloud Player certainly counts as one. The Cloud Player, as you may know, provides the ability to upload music to Amazon’s servers allowing playback on a device without taking up precious storage space on the device. However, while we’ve been enjoying this service in the U.S.
Why the amazon app (that is the app version of the amazon website, to buy products, not apps) is not compatible with this device?
I'm using Ubuntu 12.10. Whenever I go to an amazon webpage it keeps popping up an 'Amazon app' in my Unity taskbar. I find this relatively useless because I'm already on the Amazon website.
I uninstalled it but it ended up uninstalling all my google and other apps as well. When I tried reinstalling the gmail app, it also reinstalled the Amazon app!
Did something change on Amazon recently?
I'm trying to redeploy to my Amazon instance, and the "Publish to Amazon Cloudformation" plugin for VS 2010 no longer appears to update my instance.
