Amazon to limit announcement this week to 7” Kindle Fire devices

The information obtained by c|net indicates Amazon will introduce a slightly revamped version of the existing Kindle Fire and a new, higher-end model of the Kindle Fire. In anticipation of the announcement, Amazon has reported the existing Kindle Fire is now soldout. The new model is expected to have a faster processor, a camera, some physical buttons for volume control, an HDMI port, and increased internal storag (IT news)

Amazon broke into the tablet game a little less than a year ago, and although the Kindle Fire is not something I would recommend, Amazon changed the game for the better. By offering a $199 tablet, they forced companies to be more competitive, and I believe it’s one of the biggest reasons as to why Google and ASUS drew up the Nexus 7.

Along with Amazon’s big tablet announcements earlier today, it’s finally also unveiled the first markets to get the Kindle Fire tablets — both the new Kindle Fire and the HD version — outside of the U.S.

I have an original Kindle Fire that amazon was nice enough to replace with a same model due to an issue with the screen. This will arrive tomorrow.

I know that when I receive the new Kindle Fire I can simply log in with the same account and all apps from the Amazon App store will be available for download to the new Kindle Fire.

My question is what about the app settings?

The larger brother of Amazon’s Kindle Fire series is now here and has reportedly starting to ship. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 offers a 1,920 x 1,200 display at a low starting price of $299. As for a 4G LTE version, you can expect that to start shipping next week starting November the 20th.

Looks like Foxconn will be an OEM behind the upcoming Kindle Fire 2. With this decision, Amazon also takes on selection and certification of the components that will be used. Hopefully this proves beneficial to consumers. It will undoubtedly lower the cost per unit for Amazon. The original Kindle, maufactured by Quanta,  was based on the existing design for the Blackberry Playbook.
