I'm running Ubuntu Karmic, and for some reason it wont mount dvd's. I started having problems when I upgraded to Karmic when it was released. I am able to mount cds jsut fine, just no dvds. A friend gave me another drive to try, and no dice. So i have the disc for maple 13 that I need for school, i pop it in, nothing. I put the dvd in my wifes machine and it works just fine.
Hi,
Not sure if this is the right spot for this....
Hi. I'm having a problem where my laptop dvd drive does not recognizes data dvds burned by itself. I'm having to use a external dvd drive to read my dvds. This is absolutely weird because my laptop drive records just fine. Using xubuntu 12.04.
In 12.10, any time I put a DVD-R in my disc drive I'm presented with this prompt:
I'm trying to mount an .iso image to a disc with Furius ISO mount, but the disc drive is not recognized in the program and I have to assume it's because of this issue. I've tried watching standard DVDs and haven't had a problem with them, so it seems to only be problematic with DVD-R.
I have a working Samsung CD/DVD player (SATA connection) and am running latest updated version of 12.04.

I found the same error using /dev/cdrom, /dev/sr0 or /dev/dvd on the mounting command.
I try with several original movie DVDs (region 1 and regio
I was running a music app to listen to music on my F16 box, and got an error that it ran out of memory, so I rebooted it (via "restart"), and it booted back up fine, however the two drive mappings I have in /etc/fstab that mount to a Windows box would not mount.
