I am a brand-new Ubuntu user: over the weekend I inherited a Toshiba Satellite from a family member, quickly grew tired of the installed Vista, and installed Ubuntu 12.10. I love using the OS, but there are a couple of issues with my display that have me scratching my head.
The Toshiba Satellite A-305 S6916 laptop has six semi-touch buttons above the keyboard. The 'buttons' are capacitative touch areas which toggle on and off. They are back-lit when on, dark when off.
The buttons are audio controls -- mute, media, play, stop, back and next.
Hey folks, after searching many posts and forums I must seek the help of the Ubuntu forum. My internal webcam mysteriously stopped working. I am running Ubuntu 10.10 on a Toshiba Satellite Laptop A305-S6916. Also, I have a dedicated 512 ATI graphics card.
When i install Ubuntu 9.10, My Laptop keyboard is not working, then after a while my mouse that i have connected via USB stopps responding but trackpad keeps working, when i unplug my mouse and plug the mouse in again, it doesn't even get the lights on on my mouse.. it looks like USB port stopped working or something..

I am using Toshiba Satellite L645 with Ubuntu 12.10 installed in it. Bluetooth icon does not show up on the top task bar. When i try to switch it on from System Settings, the buttons don't work.

When a turn on my laptop today I noticed that the screen is too dark, I look up in the power manager and the brightness is in the minimum, I changed in the max but nothing happens. In fact if the windows closes and open again the indicator is in the min.
What can I do???
