I'm using a M5A97 R2.0 (so very very similar AFAICT looking at the Asus website). It will boot UEFI or MBR and you can switch off SecureBoot in the BIOS. You may need to get the latest BIOS from Asus to get the SecureBoot options. I'm using it in UEFI mode without SecureBoot and it's been fine.

Hello everyone,
Some time ago I have bought a new notebook- Asus R700V.
Everything would be nice, if there weren't UEFI installed.
I need Win8 to write apps on Win8 but I also need Bactrack.
Do you have any ideas how to install BT on computer with UEFI? I'll be really greatful.
Anybody know how to keep secureboot turn off, on Asus x202e once you turn securboot off and boot into USB you can use Ubuntu 64 but if you turn off your computer/notebook and later turn it back on again, the secureboot is turn back on by itself.
With or without the USB or even if you boot to USB, you can't unless you turn secureboot off again.

James Bottomley wrote a new blog post this morning about why the Linux Foundation really isn't concerned about UEFI SecureBoot on ARM hardware (smart-phones, tablets, etc) compared to the work they are doing on x86 PCs with UEFI SecureBoot support for Linux.
