I recently bought a netbook Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E130 (Video card Intel HD Graphics, CPU Intel Pentium B997 ULV) on which I installed Ubuntu 12.10 64 bits.
A systematic bug makes it annoying to use the laptop.
Regulary, a pop-up shows up, says that the system is bugging. Then, another one, which says:
Apport has detected a possible GPU hang.
In the image I intend on attaching you will see a photo of my desktop monitor/screen when said desktop locks up hard. It is a seemingly random lockup that doesn't seem to discriminate against what distribution I'm running. I have the following installed and the system has locked up when running all of the Linux OS's.
Hi,
I am running openSuSE 11.3 on a Thinkpad T400 laptop (with Intel+ATI switchable graphics). I made a clean install of openSuSE 11.3 (earlier running 11.2), and updated to KDE 4.5.
Now my screen freezes frequently. I can move the mouse cursor all over the screen, but cannot start any application; the keyboard doesn't work too.
Hi
I am new to Ubuntu. Less than a year. I have a desktop system. Mostly use it for E-mail and web browsing. Running a dual boot with win 7. (needed for work) After upgrading to 12.04 I started to have problem with the system crashing. It's been getting progressively worse, about 3-5 times a day now.
Hi,
for 4 weeks now, I have been running Ubuntu 12.04 on a brand new Lenovo Thinkpad T530. For the first three days, I had the 64bit Version of 12.04 installed, which froze randomly every 10hours or so. I updated the Kernel, which fixed the problem, but lead to driver problems.
Hi all,
I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and I am getting lock ups after logging in usually within a minute at the desktop. Mousing around through the menus is enough to make it lock up. The system is totally frozen and I can't do anything but hard reboot.
Hello,
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 x64 with the latest updates on my ASUS K53E.
After a vanilla install of any ubuntu version, the K53E will not suspend properly. A script from here (http://thecodecentral.com/2011/01/18...ot-working-bug) fixes it right up.
However, for the past few days I've been getting more severe PM problems.
I'm using the latest Crunchbang release (10 “Statler”) on an Asus A5S3J laptop. Sometimes (about once every 2 days) while I'm just browsing the internet, the whole system will just completely freeze for no apparent reason. The cursor stops moving and it will not respond to any key combination (not even Ctrl+Alt+SysReq). The Num Lock and Caps Lock lights are frozen too.
I clean installed Ubuntu 12 several months back on Toshiba Satellite laptop and have had no problems. System was up to date working great. A couple days ago I tried the option of "suspend" instead of shutting down and could not resume. Had to do a hard shutdown and now I can't reboot. All I see after GRUB is black screen with flashing cursor in upper left corner of screen.
