I need to know the best Wireless card for Ubuntu. One that is supported without the "wrapper" and is supported out of the box.
I know that the Wireless-N is not supported well in Ubuntu without a wrapper.
im on a dual boot machine and my windows partition is my only way to connect to the internet so i can only describe my terminal outputs:
Code:
sudo lspci -v
lists my wireless card but doesn't list the drivers i have installed for it.
b43fwcutter firmware-b43-lpphy-installer
Code:
ifconfig
does not list my wireless card.
also i should mention these are the drivers i have always used
New to Ubuntu and trying to get my wireless capabilities up and running. I didnt find my TEW-645UB usb wireless adapter on the list of supported ones, so I guess there is no way for me to get online with my desktop.
I hove bought a LogiLink Wireless LAN PCI Card. When I have installed it. My system now keeps freezing. So I took it out and everything is fine. I'm running Fedora 11. Is this card not supported. How well does Fedora 11 support wireless. I'll be getting a new Laptop soon with the intention of using wireless. Will I face the same problems? This is a big thing for me.
My Fedora 17 laptop has a built-in Wireless PCIe card (RT3090), which is malfunctional.
I have a USB Wireless adapter that I use instead, and want to deactivate the PCIe.
On Windows, I could use the hardware switch to disable the inbuilt card, but this also disabled Bluetooth.
On Fedora, it seems to disable all the wireless hardware - my USB adapters (x3), the PCIe and the BT.
Just got a new compaq presario cq57. I've been trying all day to get the wireless working. So far i've come up with pretty much no results. i've gotten ndiswrapper and the driver for my card, and it recognizes the hardware, but the wireless card is still coming up unclaimed. I've been reading every post and how-to guide i've come across, but they haven't gotten me anywhere.
Hi, I got a problem with my wireless network, the thing
is that i can get the cable to work but not the wireless network on my laptop.
I found this:

"This driver works well on Lucid.
I recently installed BackTrack 5 R1 on my late 2011 13" Macbook Pro 8,1 and everything installed fine after some helpful Google searches.
One of the main issues I am having is that the Wireless card on my Macbook isn't being recognized. When I use Wicd Network Manager it doesn't see any wireless networks (No Wireless Networks Found).
Running 10.04 on Satellite Pro 4600 with Netgear WG511 v1 Wireless Card. Wireless PC Card appears to be working (running Windows Drivers) but home network is "not available", the neighbour's wireless networks are "available". Lenovo T61 running 10.04 up and running with no problems. Home wireless is Netgear C9G24N v2 with WPA security. How do I "find" my home Wifi?
