I changed my password a few months ago from the password I first used when I installed Ubuntu on my machine.
I am using ubuntu 10.10 on my Laptop. I am able to log in without entering my password but keyring asks for my password. I am using a wireless setup.
I'm using 12.04 (32 bit) on a dual boot machine with Windows 7.
I use a wireless adapter (USB) to connect to my router. Yesterday the wireless connection fell over and asked for input of the WPA2 password to reconnect. Entry of the password would not allow reconnect.
I rebooted.
Normally on reboot my system requests a keyring password to activate my network connection.
I am new to Ubuntu and am having some problems. I closed the laptop lid to sleep the computer. When I opened the lid to open it, it did not wake up so I turned the computer off. When I turned the computer back on, it said that networking was disabled and it showed the wrong time. Now I am getting a Window asking me to enter a password to unlock a keyring.
It appears that my keyring manager has gone on strike. I did a "zupper up" today and ever since doing that, the computer has not asked me to enter my default keyring password when booting up. The only way for me to connect to my wireless is to enter the WPA security code every time and when loading Pidgin I have to enter all my passwords. This is very annoying!!!!
I'm trying to get Seahorse to remember the password for an existing RSA key I've copied across from another computer.
When I use the key rather than Gnome Keyring prompting me for the password and storing it on the keyring I have to enter the password in terminal and the password isn't remembered?
How do I use Seahorse to save my SSH key password?
I changed my password and now every time I login, it says (I would have attached a screenshot but apparently you can't):
Unlock Keyring
---------------------
Enter password for default keyring to unlock
The application 'NetworkManager Applet' (usr/bin/nm-applet)
wants access to the default keyring, but it is locked
Password: [________]
Running ubuntu 10LTS, how do I stop it from asking for password after a reboot, and stop asking for keyring to get wifi going,
I seriously thought I did not set these up, I ignored first asking of keyring, now everytime reboot it asks and I have to reenter the wifi network password.
Dear all,
As stated in the following link, a window will popup for the user to input the keyring password when it is autologin:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu...question/85771:
If you are autologin'ing to your machine, gdm uses su to become your user, without ever using the password.
