http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello, I'm looking at setting up a thin client terminal that connects to my ltsp server. Once into an ubuntu desktop I'll need rdesktop to connect to my Windows VM. Connected to the thin client will be a keyboard, mouse, usb hand scanner and usb weight balance. Will I be able to pass through these usb devices through rdesktop to my windows VM? Does it 'just work' or do I need to use special software to assist? Or should I forget about the ltsp server, run linux (ubuntu) on a small client PC that automatically boots into rdesktop to my Windows VM? Would this work better? Thank y (Hardware)

It's easy to access window destop from linux using the command rdesktop command. The windows machine may be in our LAN or machine connected in internet. If the linux didn't have rdesktop installed , you can download rdesktop and install it. Example for rdesktop:

Ubuntu seems to favor LTSP, but on the x2go FAQ says that LTSP is not well suited for WAN connections:

LTSP requires a high bandwidth on your network.

hi, ! i already install LTSP in ubuntu 11.10, and the client can boot into the server, but i bump into a problem, mouse ps/2 cannot work in the LTSP ubuntu client.

FYI, my ubuntu LTSP server using 64-bit, and the ltsp-image i'm build is arc-i386, and my ubuntu LTSP server using mouse ps/2 and work, why the client didnt work?

I used winxp remote desktop connection to connect win2008 and audio was ok.I used centos 5.4 rdesktop (rdesktop-1.6.0-3) to connect but no audio heard.rdesktop -r sound:loca... [by aclhkaclhk1]

So I'm using rdesktop to connect to a remote server of us where I have Visual Studio. The virtual machine is a Windows 2008 server. I use this parameters:

rdesktop -D -g 1920x1200 -k it X.X.X.X

Because I have an Italian keyboard. I have no problem writing, the keys are in place.

I am trying to get an LTSP server installed and working.

i have done the following :

installed ubunty 12.04 desktop 32 bit on a computer. installed LTSP server created 32 bit image for thin clients

now when i boot a thin client, it connects to the server and then gets the image file.

however, after i log in , i get only the linux background.

Currently I have an hp laserjet p3015 printer installed in ubuntu 12.04 and it;s working just fine, I can print whatever I need to and I have to admit the installation of the printer in ubuntu was easier than it was in windows. Anyway that aside I am trying to remote desktop into a windows machine.

Here is a situation I am on a Linux machine and I have to access a windows xp machine to which I can connect with rdesktop.The problem is Windows XP machine is remotely located and to be able to do a rdesktop I first physically go to the windows machine and login, I come back to my chair open the terminal on my linux machine and do an rdesktop, then windows property dialog opens and asks to discon
