On this question I figured out that i needed to install drivers for my graphics card. The output of lspci says I have 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV200 [Mobility Radeon 7500] and in Dash > Detail says my graphics are R100 (RV200 4C57) x86/MMX/SSE2 TCL DRI2 How do I install the drivers for my card?
Hey!
I can't see any additional drivers on the Software Sources -> Additional Drivers tab. It is all empty. Does this just simply mean that there are no additional drivers available for my computer?
And, what are the commands to find out if Ubuntu even detects my hardware? I have a wireless card and ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card.
After the upgrade to 12.04, it doesn't find drivers for my Radeon 2100 in the "Additional Drivers" window. I can't remember having problems with this before.
Default Ubuntu 10.10 install.
system info -> graphics -> driver says "unknown" and experiece : 'standard'
Hardware -> additional drivers : totally empty.
Windows are moving around sorta slow.
lspci | grep VGA
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series]
What's wrong. Why doesn't additional drivers show propertietary ATI driver?
Hi,
Ubuntu 11.10 was the last release that I could install on my Dell Inspiron 1564, with this graphics card:
Code:
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV710/M92 [Mobility Radeon HD 4330/4350/4550]
All releases after 11.10 froze once in 2-3 days, with color stripes on the screen.
I am on an HP Envy 14, and the proper resolution that I should be using is 1366x768. This is NOT an option in display settings and I am stuck on 1024x768.
OK so I just got Ubuntu the other month or so. I'm running the 11.04 version currently and trying to install drivers for a Nvidia graphics card (it's my brother's computer and he currently cannot find the number of the card right now). I read that, to install the proper drivers for gaming, I would need to go into "Additional Drivers" and choose them myself.
In Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal), there is no additional drivers section in system settings, in fact, it has moved to a new tab in software sources.
I just recently installed (or rather, reinstalled, after some bouts with Ultimate Edition 3.5 and Linux Mint 13 KDE) Ubuntu Gnome Remix 12.10 64 bit on my AMD A8-3870K desktop with integrated AMD Radeon HD 6550D graphics.
