For a few weeks now my Ubuntu 12.04 system has been locking up. The hard drive seemed to keep locking up and going into read-only mode. I have to reboot in order to keep working on it.
So, I decided to just clone the hard drive and see if I can recover it.
When I do a regular copy of all files from the drive to another, it gets to about 110 megs in and gives me an input/output error.
For the last little while I have been receiving hard drive errors and sda3 is being remounted read only. I am running on an OCZ Agility III ssd.
I downloaded a copy of fedora yesterday and stuck the disk in, i only booted it, something was wrong with the disk or something but i gave me an error everytime i clicked "install to hard drive" but anyways, so i took the disk out and booted back into vista, first off, it went to the screen saying vista needs to check for errors and couldn't fix the problem and shut down, then i started
Im having issues with my external hard drive (usb, called "Elements", machine PC123, user user123), while playing music or videos on it.
When playing music, it usually skips 2 tracks in the playlist, and plays the next track which is on that same drive. Also, it can play the skipped tracks right after.
I had a Windows 2003 Hard Drive on my server and it went bad so I installed a new clean hard drive and installed Windows 2008 R2 on the new clean drive.
I've been struggling today with a hard drive that would go into read only mode as I was getting errors in the dmesg related to sata. The system was doing an update and it crashed on me and I was unable to do anything since it said I needed to run dpkg --reconfigure -a but the computer would freeze on me during the command.
My Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit keeps crashing on boot.
Ok so heres what i want to do i have a amd laptop with two hard drives 1 is 500gb the other is 250gb, I want to install ubuntu on the 250gb drive currently the drive is empty the 500gb drive is my windows 7 main i dont want it touched in the installation now ive read other threads about dual booting 2 drives but they dont give clear answers for me to take the risk.
Okay so using the smart option, my harddrive has 15 bad sectors, all because of a very bad hard drive. I need to pull some files from my gf laptop before resorting to buying and tossing the old drive.
Im using the latest ubuntu version as my live cd. However i can not mount the hard drive because of these errors.
