No do not try to install this one. It will break your graphics.
This is because it has been built against the old xserver 1.11 ABI (xorg-video-abi11).
It should have been built against the newest xserver 1.12 ABI (xorg-video-abi-12).
So here's the problem. I have a rather old laptop, bought it in 2007. It's an Acer Aspire 5100-5023 if that means anything to anyone. It has an integrated graphics card, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100. ATI (I guess AMD now) no longer provides legacy support for this card.
Now I have Ubuntu 12.10. It has xorg 1.13. Unity wont run correctly with out that version of xorg.
The newest (beta) version of nvidia-graphics-drivers (304.22) is available from the xorg-edgers PPA.
That works just fine in QQ.
And yes, it needs the xserver_1.12
After I installed Ubuntu and booted it up, my computers graphics and display appeared to be messed up.
For some reason no matter what I do in regards to getting proper ATI Drivers, nothing works. However, testing out the OS in a Live USB is actually perfect. Full-screen flash works, 3D graphics work, and everything is snappy.
Is there a way I can install Ubuntu without the "default" graphics drivers changing? Like I said, everything is fine and dandy until I actually install the OS and reboot.
In Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal), there is no additional drivers section in system settings, in fact, it has moved to a new tab in software sources.
New Nvidia graphics drivers (v. 313.26) are available from RR repos:

This is also in the Xorg-edgers PPA.
Hello, I am having trouble getting the graphics card in my Samsung NP300V5A-S0FAU (http://www.samsung.com/au/support/mo...0FAU-techspecs) the graphics card in it is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 520MX with Optimus.
I have tried the drivers from the official Ubuntu respository and when I go to nvidia-settings it says it's not cofigured but it doesn't let me configure it.
I have installed 12.8 (new) Ati Amd driver for my Mobility Radeon HD 7550.
After installing I configured xorg.conf using "aticonfig --initial" and restarted the laptop.
I got the screen saying the system is running in low graphics mode. graphics drivers etc could not be determined. And gives me 4 options: 1. Run in low graphics mode for just one session 2. Recofigure graphics 3.
