http://ubuntuforums.org – I recently updated to 12.04 (from 10.04), and am having issues with transcoding some mpg files. Basically, I want to take a 1280x720, 60fps file and convert it to DVD-compatable format (so 720x480, 30 fps) I used to be able to do it with a command like ffmpeg -i in.mpg -cropleft 100 -cropright 100 -target ntsc-dvd -r 29.970 -s 720x480 -aspect 4:3 -map 0:0 -map 0:1 out.mpg but since ffmpeg has been updated, the -cropleft/-cropright no longer work. (And ffmpeg is deprecated) I attempted to switch over to avconv and use the new crop filters, but that isn't working avconv -vf " (Hardware)
