I'm migrating an old Ubuntu OpenVZ instance (Jaunty) to a new CentOS 6.3 host (using vzdump/vzrestore).
Now networking does not work properly.
Well.
Why is the ping command outputing different results for these two instances?
$ ping -c 3 www.google.ca
PING www-cctld.l.google.com (173.194.79.94) 56(84) bytes of data.

I want to print the domain:ip for a list of domains in a text file.
the problem is godaddy has blocked the domains so the result of a ping is like this:
Code:
PING domain.com (68.178.232.99): 56 data bytes
--- domain.com ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss
(domain.com is an example domain)
a normal result is like this:
Code:
PING d
I can ping github.com but I can't ssh into it.
I've got a bit of a basic networking question here regarding ping.
When pinging a particular host on a completely different subnet, I get a response like this:
PING myhost.example.com (1.2.3.4) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 1.2.3.4: icmp_req=1 ttl=115 time=1.88 ms
64 bytes from 1.2.3.4: icmp_req=2 ttl=115 time=1.66 ms
64 bytes from 1.2.3.4: icmp_req=3 ttl=115 time=1.96 ms
64 bytes from 1.2
