I installed the header and image packages for kernel 2.6.38-13-generic under Ubuntu 10.04, but now the Nvidia and Broadcom drivers keep crashing when I attempt to install them.
I tried running sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source but get the error:
DKMS make.log for bcmwl-5.60.48.36+bdcom for kernel 2.6.38-13-generic (x86_64)

new to ubuntu,I have a wireless issue with my HP netbook,I am using ubuntu 12.10.I found a fix here Ubuntu 12.10, Wireless not working
but when I type sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source it prompts that bcmwl-kernel-source could not be downloaded!Any suggestions?I m trying for this wireless issue some days now and I cannot fix it,please help, cause I m new to linux, and OSystems in
I installed 12.10 the other day on my macBookPro 5,5 and have been having some problems setting up the wifi drivers.
I tried to connect to the internet with an ethernet cable but that wasn't recognized either. I managed to install fakeroot, dkms and bcmwl-kernel-source from the install disk.
When I try to install Ubuntu 13.04, the installation goes only so far and then hangs at "configuring bcmwl-kernel-source". The CD simply stops spinning and I can walk away for an hour and when I return, it's still stuck there. I've tried blacklisting b43 in the kernel options (ie; b43.blacklist=yes) but even that doesn't work. Does anyone know of a work-around for this?.
Thanks so much!
to fix the problem of not being able to connect to the network or the internet after you've updated ubuntu 12.10 follow the following easy codes on the terminal(you will need internet connection for this so use a usb wireless card or other method):
first: sudo apt-get remove bcmwl-kernel-source
second: sudo apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-source
third: sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree
Wireless very unstable.
I've tried the following -
Ignoring IPV6,
Purging bcmwl-kernel-source,
Using NameBench for a better primary, secondary and ternary DNS
Driver is broadcom.
Any suggestions to get a stable 54Mb/s connection?
I'm using dell inspiron 1545 came with vista, I've been using windows 7 in that from a while.
