For those of you who think that dual-core is so last year then have I story for you. The video we have here shows the TI dual-core OMAP 5 application processor for mobile devices outpacing the quad-core Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia. For those that don’t know the OMAP 5 sports ARM’s new and improved Cortex-A15 CPU design.
Fully Utilizing Your X-Core CPU
Shall I disable core mulplexing cpu for getting better performance for implementing virtual machines.
by core multiplexing I understand, the multiple core processors act like single core ( disable other cores) and thus get more cach memory
I am correct?
Freescale announced new P3 and P5 families within its QorIQ system-on-chip platform, as well its first 64-bit Power Architecture core, clockable to 2.5GHz. The single-core QorIQ P5010 and dual-core P5020 processors offer the 64-bit e5500 core, which uses 30 Watts while clocked at 2.2GHz, and the QorIQ P3041 integrates four e500 cores, using 12 Watts at 1.5GHz, says Freescale....
I have three machines, and I've been experimenting with commands to set the CPU frequency scaler by hand. This command works on each of my machines, except one of them:
Code:
sudo cpufreq-set -r -g performance
On both of my Core i series machines, that sets the CPU governor to performance for each core.
Hi folks,
I want to know how to run two unix programs on two different cpu cores on a 2-core or 4-core or 8-core CPU machine? Extending this how would i run four and eight unix programs on 4-core and 8-core machine respectively?
If this can be done, how to know which program is assigned to which core?
Freescale Semiconductor announced a series of 28nm-fabbed QorIQ multicore processors, featuring a 64-bit PowerPC core clocked up to 2.5GHz. The Linux-ready Advanced Multiprocessing (AMP) QorIQ series will debut in early 2012 with the T4240, offering 12 cores dual-threaded to 24 virtual cores, numerous acceleration engines, and cascading power management, says Freescale....
My service provider is only selling this phone with the dual core processor, how does this stack up to the quad core??
I've also heard some problems with this phone are constant overheating and a draining battery life. Are these problems only apparent using the quad core??
Today most tablets and smartphones on the market have dual core processors on them. But some of them have quad core processors like iphone 5 and Nexus 7. I know dual core has benefits but how does quad core help when you basically can only run one app at a time?
