Need bit of help on this. I am using Linux mint 14 with xfce.
I have 2 monitors. LG and Samsung. One is attached to digital input and one to VGA input cable.
NVidia graphics card. The 2 monitors come up OK, and I see the Linux desktop on both of them just fine.
The problem is that they are duplicate of each others. Kinda' useless.
This is a nice little article for setting up dual monitors.
Ubuntu Tips: How To Setup Dual Monitor
Does anyone know how to do this from the terminal?
I wanted to add a key detail that was neglected from the first article I read. This only matters if you are trying to watch videos.
Have dual monitors, and, when using kde, the wallpaper on the right screen is solid blue and not Constantine like the left screen. When clicking the cashew on the left screen (I can't believe there's cashews for both screens) it seems the wallpaper is pointed to Constantine, although the Author space is blank (it says Fedora project on the left screen).
I'm trying to set up a dual monitor machine with an Intel DH67BL monitor, Ivy Bridge i5-3450 CPU and dual Samsung 204b monitors.
I cant seem to get the computer to recognize more than one of these monitors at a time.
I can get either monitor to work using the DVI port directly or with a DVI-VGA cable, or by using the HDMI port with an HDMI-DVI cable.
I managed to sort of get them working by sub
I switched from the default driver to fglrx recently so a certain app would stop crashing. After a while I got my dual monitor system to work, except the right monitor (Acer) shows the whole desktop shunken about 90%. There's an unused margin of an inch or so all around.
Both monitors are 23", identical for functional purposes but different brands.
Hey all,
I just installed Kubuntu 12.04 on my desktop computer and have been having some trouble setting up dual monitors.
The good news is I've managed to get them working, more or less. However, every time I boot up the computer, the main screen (X or whatever it is in kubuntu) is on the monitor on my left instead of the one on my right.
There’re many desktop environments that work on Ubuntu system. Sometimes panel may disappear or error load after configuration error.
Hi all,
A couple of days ago I installed the brand new OpenSUSE 11.3 in my work computer, choosing KDE as desktop. The machine is equipped with an ATI Radeon X550 video card which feeds two 1600x1200 Dell monitors, one connected through VGA and the other through DVI; the first positioned horizontally and the second vertically.
I have tried to set up dual monitors using the provided ATI Radeon drivers as root. WhenI did, it told me that I would have to reboot and now neither of my monitors will work. It will show the normal boot screen, usually on both screens, but when it gets to the logon screen everythingis blank. I have tried unplugging one of the monitors during bootup but that didn't work. Please help.
