here is my situation.
I need to access an FTP server at work. The server will only accept local IP's, so I cannot access it from my home machine. I have been able to ssh into my unix work machine through PuTTY and from there successfully open a console ftp connection to the FTP server. I could work through this, but I would prefer not to as it is very cumbersome for me.
Hi all,
After I establish an SSH tunnel (using Putty) from my Windows machine at work and then try to connect using tightvncviewer to my ubuntu 12.04 machine at home all I get is a black screen. Meanwhile the client machine pops up a message asking to "allow" or "refuse" my connection.
Previously, I only had one machine on my home network with an ssh tunnel, so when i connected to my home network via ssh from another location, it would automatically connect to the right machine. i( set my router to redirect ssh requests to that computers LAN IP)
Now that I have multiple machines with ssh tunnels on my home network, the connection is refused.
I've got sshd running on my home machine, and can start an ssh connection from any of the other computers on my home network. However, I can't connect to it from my office computer (or any other computer outside my home LAN). When I try, I get a "connection timed out" error.
Hi! I've had this problem for a long time now. Maybe someone here can help me solve it.
My computer sees the wireless network at home, ChinaNet-zbgJ. The dsl router is brand new, they just changed things to make it faster. I have the password, it is written on the router.
I am trying to figure out the best way to get shell access to a machine behind a network that I don't own. If the machine were on my home network, I would just forward port 22 and all would be well, but I don't have that kind of access on this other network.
Hello,
I`m having problems with my broadband connection. The computer can connect to my router and other computers in my network and all the other computers can access this computer. But I have no internet connection.
Since my ISP restricts some incoming connections, I can't access remotely to my home pc.
What I'm trying to do is make a reverse ssh connection from my home's router with Tomato firmware to the office computer, so I can access remotely from the office with that open connection.
What I'm doing is running the following from the router:
ssh -R 12345:localhost:22 oUser@office
Then I leave run top
I am having a problem connecting to wired connection from router. I used to have 11.10 where I tried to establish DSL connection. I tried it doing through the terminal using some pppoeconf commands.
When I reboot my system, under the Ubuntu loading sign, I saw messages like
configuring network; wait 60 seconds more for connection, etc.
Then after 2-3 minutes, Ubuntu home screen appears.
