Adobe tries to stay ahead in Web Tech, introduces hardware acceleration in Flash Plug-in 10.1

I would note that, with Pepperflash, AMD Catalyst also enjoys hardware acceleration with Flash. That wasn't the case with any standalone Flash we had available.

Adobe Systems has annonced today two new Adobe Flash Platform open Source initiatives; The Open Source Media Framework(OSMF) and the Text Layout Framework(TLF). Adobe Flash Player 11 has been released and is for downloads. Flash Player 11 take this even further by introducing Stage 3D, a new architecture for hardware accelerated graphics rendering that delivers 1000x faster rendering performance over Flash Player 10. It enables new classes of console-quality games and immersive apps, such as Tanki Online and Zombie Tycoon.

Adobe Systems announced a downloadable Release Candidate (RC) version of its Flash Player 10.1 software, citing a long list of performance enhancements and bug fixes. With Apple's banning Adobe Flash based content on all of its mobile devices, Adobe announced that it has now officially given up on Apple.
